'''Curious Light''', also named '''Starlight''' in the game files, is a mysterious yellow aura and death messenger [[List of Entities|entity]] in ''[[DOORS]]'', appearing in almost all floors. It is one of [[The Three Architects]] and its motives and goals are largely unknown. Although it provides somewhat helpful messages after death, and highlights areas of progression, it is less helpful than the [[Guiding Light]] in giving advice. |

''The Curious Light'' resembles the [[Guiding Light]] as after dying in [[The Rooms]] or [[The Backdoor]], the background of the death screen when the ''Curious Light'' talks to you is the same as the Guiding Light's background, the only difference is that it's yellow and the moon being a star. |
||
When lighting up an area of progression, the ''Curious Light'' appears to be a simple glowing, yellow aura with small yellow sparkles emitting from it. |
|||
It can be further identified by its unique soundtrack, being a much more quiet and somber version of [[Soundtrack|''Guiding Light'']], hinting at a possible affiliation between the entities. |

''Curious Light'' can |
The ''Curious Light'' can be seen in almost all floors, serving as a death messenger to the player after dying in [[The Rooms]] or [[The Backdoor]], appearing in [[The Hotel]] and [[The Mines]] for when it teleports the player from sub-floors as well as appearing as a [[Rift]]. The ''Curious Light'' provides tips on how to counter the entities found inside the sub-floors, but it often states the obvious or nothing substantial at all, meaning it doesn't serve much of a useful role in gameplay. |
||
Lorewise, the ''Curious Light'' is a lot more helpful in The Backdoor since according to its dialogue, it is the one that placed the levers that keep us from dying to [[The Backdoor|Haste]]. However, in [[The Rooms]], it only lights up areas of progression (exit doors) scattered throughout the sub-floor and like in gameplay, does not serve much of a role. |
|||
Parallel to Guiding Light, ''Curious Light'' does not actively light up dark environments, or provide assistance in general, being only present in a player's death or lighting up an exit door. And when it does assist the player, it is very vague. |
|||
The ''Curious Light'' does not actively light up dark environments, being only present in a player's death or lighting up exit doors or certain items. When it does assist the player, it is very vague. However, it does makes shimmering sounds near room keys in The Backdoor, but it is unknown if the ''Curious Light'' also provides light near the key after a while. After finishing The Backdoor, the ''Curious Light'' brings us back to [[The Reception]] (Door 0) through a yellow doorframe. After that, the doorway can still be seen, and it emits the ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s yellow sparks. |
|||
It makes unhelpful comments about the entities, with the only useful tips being the spawning point and things that most players would figure out very easily themselves. Despite this, it's cheering you on to keep beating [[The Rooms]] and [[The Backdoor]], making its motives confusing. This may also imply that the ''Curious Light'' is either not confident or unsure about [[The Rooms]] and [[The Backdoor]], completely unlike the Guiding Light. |

The ''Curious Light'' usually makes unhelpful comments about the entities, with the only useful tips being the spawning point (in The Rooms) and things that most players would figure out very easily themselves. Despite this, it's cheering the player on to keep beating its [[Floors|sub-floors]] while also occasionally criticising the player for failing to survive The Backdoor, making its motives confusing. This may also imply that the ''Curious Light'' is trying to challenge the player via sub-floors or that it does not care enough to fully guide the player throughout The Rooms or The Backdoor and instead uses alternate ways to aid the player throughout the two sub-floors, such as highlighting exit doors, placing levers in The Backdoor, making shimmering noises near [[Room Key (The Backdoor)|keys]], etc. |

* The ''Curious Light'' mirrors [[Guiding Light]]'s death messages if the player dies because of A-60, A-90 or A-120 (which requires the use of exploits){{Exploiting Inline}}. All of which do not help players at all, such as just emojis, making fun of players or saying it's going to play a different Roblox game. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light'' will be near The Rooms entrance, however trying to enter The Rooms will send you to the Roblox game called "Survive and Kill the Killers in Area 51!!!." |

* ''Curious Light'' can sometimes spawn after a player dies in [[RETRO MODE]]. |
|||
* According to Redibles, ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s death messages for when you die to a [[Glitch Fragment]] entity is currently bugged and instead of showing its own messages, it shows [[Guiding Light]]'s messages.<ref>[https://youtu.be/dD_cvIWXGf0?si=pj3YDgIubnoDXX4V&t=485]</ref> |

== {{Icons|Trivia}} Trivia == |
||
* The ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s name originates from a [[soundtracks|soundtrack]] by [[LSPLASH]]. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light'' is proven to exist in all canon floors. |
|||
** This is further proven by how all of ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s related items work in every location. Unlike [[Guiding Light]]'s related items which only work in main floors. |
|||
** Thus, ''Curious Light'' is not trapped in The Rooms.<ref>[https://discord.com/channels/458441314023899159/1006982064458960916/1110146166559080529 <nowiki>"... [curious light] exists outside of the rooms on the entrance door which like completely invalidates the theory of it being locked in there just sayin brah" -redibles, Discord</nowiki>]</ref> |
|||
** Signs of the ''Curious Light'' can also be seen on the doorway that appears in [[The Reception]] when beating The Backdoor, and in [[The Infirmary]] when beating The Rooms. |
|||
** If [[Rush]] goes through the room with the entrance to The Rooms, the ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s glow will disappear. This is likely a bug. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s ambience can be softly heard when navigating [[The Basement]] (on Door 61, not to be confused with the basement in Door 89) when you go down to the right stairs, turn right, and keep going until you hear the ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s ambient sound. This happens because the entrance to The Rooms is really close. |
|||
* It has been confirmed that the ''Curious Light'' will play a bigger role in the overall game in the future.{{Fact}} |
|||
* Currently, the ''Curious Light'' is technically in all the existing [[floors]] in the game (excluding the HOTEL- modifier). |
|||
* The ''Curious Light'' is most likely one of "[[The Three Architects]]" that the [[Crucifix]] sigil describes when translated. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light'' has a connection to the [[Vial of Starlight|Vials of Starlight]], [[Bottle of Starlight]] and therefore to the [[Jug of Starlight]], as they emit the yellow sparks of ''Curious Light'' especially when it is held in the hand. |
|||
** Additionally, the pedestal which the Bottle of Starlight is placed on has the same marks as the yellow doorway back to the Reception which also emits the yellow sparks of the ''Curious Light''. |
|||
** [[Stardust]], a currency, also seems to be heavily associated with ''Curious Light''. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>’s theme is pretty similar to Five Night’s at Freddy’s Ultimate Custom Night OST - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii7faeVDRhs Last Breath] (although this may be coincidental) and the [[Guiding Light]]'s theme. |
|||
* When the player dies for the first time to [[The Backdoor#Blitz|Blitz]], one of the ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s lines are: "<u>'''She'''</u> said we should call that one Blitz." As of now, it is unknown who 'she' is. |
|||
** When dying to the [[The Backdoor|Lookman]] or the [[The Backdoor|Vacuum]], ''Curious Light'' states how [[The Backdoor|Lookman]] is similar to another entity we've encountered ([[Eyes]]), and said that someone or something told the ''Curious Light'' that we need oxygen to survive, respectively in [[The Mines]], the Guiding Light seems to confirm to itself that we cannot breathe in [[Firedamp|firedamp rooms]] and in water, meaning that it wasn’t 100% sure that we need oxygen, so the "she" is more likely the Guiding Light. |
|||
* In one of the death messages for [[The Backdoor|Haste]], ''Curious Light'' states that it placed down the levers in [[The Backdoor]], meaning that it may have a physical form, or a sense of touch. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light'' is currently the only architect/light to have ambience, as the Guiding Light only has a theme which is heard after death in [[The Hotel]] and the “Red Light” plays no sound at all. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light'' appears to have its limits, as it gets increasingly more frustrated and annoyed the more times players die in The Backdoor, making it one of the few entities that show emotions and/or feelings. |
|||
* The ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s background color and sparkles appeared in the Post-Hunt icon for [[DOORS]]. |
|||
** This is similar to how every other architect had their background colors appear in an icon for [[DOORS]]. With the Hotel+ Update icon having [[Guiding Light]]'s and the Modifiers update icon having the Red Light's. |
|||
* ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s symbol shown in its death screen is usually brighter than [[Guiding Light]]'s and has light rays passing through the water. |
|||
* ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s symbol is displayed on all starlight items (Starlight Vial, Starlight Bottle, etc...) Unlike the Guiding light in which the symbol is only displayed on the [[crucifix]]'s banishment symbol and the [[Moonlight Candle]]'s handle, meanwhile the [[Moonlight Float]] does not have the associated symbol. |
|||
* ''Curious Light''<nowiki/>'s Backdoor Barrier used to have the Old ''Curious Light'' symbol before it was eventually replaced with the new [[Status Effects|Starlit]] symbol.{{Fact}} |

</choose> Curious Light, also named Starlight in the game files, is a mysterious yellow aura and death messenger entity in DOORS, appearing in almost all floors. It is one of The Three Architects and its motives and goals are largely unknown. Although it provides somewhat helpful messages after death, and highlights areas of progression, it is less helpful than the Guiding Light in giving advice.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
The Curious Light resembles the Guiding Light as after dying in The Rooms or The Backdoor, the background of the death screen when the Curious Light talks to you is the same as the Guiding Light's background, the only difference is that it's yellow and the moon being a star.
When lighting up an area of progression, the Curious Light appears to be a simple glowing, yellow aura with small yellow sparkles emitting from it.
It can be further identified by its unique soundtracks, being a much quieter and more somber version of the Guiding Light, hinting at a possible affiliation between the entities.
It is often associated with a white or yellow 4-point star, which is seen on the "Spacetime" painting, Vial of Starlight, Bottle of Starlight, Jug of Starlight and the Stardust icon.
Behavior[edit | edit source]
The Curious Light can be seen in almost all floors, serving as a death messenger to the player after dying in The Rooms or The Backdoor, appearing in The Hotel and The Mines for when it teleports the player from sub-floors as well as appearing as a Rift. The Curious Light provides tips on how to counter the entities found inside the sub-floors, but it often states the obvious or nothing substantial at all, meaning it doesn't serve much of a useful role in gameplay.
Lorewise, the Curious Light is a lot more helpful in The Backdoor since according to its dialogue, it is the one that placed the levers that keep us from dying to Haste. However, in The Rooms, it only lights up areas of progression (exit doors) scattered throughout the sub-floor and like in gameplay, does not serve much of a role.
The Curious Light does not actively light up dark environments, being only present in a player's death or lighting up exit doors or certain items. When it does assist the player, it is very vague. However, it does makes shimmering sounds near room keys in The Backdoor, but it is unknown if the Curious Light also provides light near the key after a while. After finishing The Backdoor, the Curious Light brings us back to The Reception (Door 0) through a yellow doorframe. After that, the doorway can still be seen, and it emits the Curious Light's yellow sparks.
The Curious Light usually makes unhelpful comments about the entities, with the only useful tips being the spawning point (in The Rooms) and things that most players would figure out very easily themselves. Despite this, it's cheering the player on to keep beating its sub-floors while also occasionally criticising the player for failing to survive The Backdoor, making its motives confusing. This may also imply that the Curious Light is trying to challenge the player via sub-floors or that it does not care enough to fully guide the player throughout The Rooms or The Backdoor and instead uses alternate ways to aid the player throughout the two sub-floors, such as highlighting exit doors, placing levers in The Backdoor, making shimmering noises near keys, etc.
Super Hard Mode[edit | edit source]
- The Curious Light mirrors Guiding Light's death messages if the player dies because of A-60, A-90 or A-120 (which requires the use of exploits)[exploits]. All of which do not help players at all, such as just emojis, making fun of players or saying it's going to play a different Roblox game.
- The Curious Light will be near The Rooms entrance, however trying to enter The Rooms will send you to the Roblox game called "Survive and Kill the Killers in Area 51!!!."
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- Curious Light can sometimes spawn after a player dies in RETRO MODE.
- According to Redibles, Curious Light's death messages for when you die to a Glitch Fragment entity is currently bugged and instead of showing its own messages, it shows Guiding Light's messages.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Curious Light's name originates from a soundtrack by LSPLASH.
- The Curious Light is proven to exist in all canon floors.
- This is further proven by how all of Curious Light's related items work in every location. Unlike Guiding Light's related items which only work in main floors.
- Thus, Curious Light is not trapped in The Rooms.[2]
- Signs of the Curious Light can also be seen on the doorway that appears in The Reception when beating The Backdoor, and in The Infirmary when beating The Rooms.
- If Rush goes through the room with the entrance to The Rooms, the Curious Light's glow will disappear. This is likely a bug.
- The Curious Light's ambience can be softly heard when navigating The Basement (on Door 61, not to be confused with the basement in Door 89) when you go down to the right stairs, turn right, and keep going until you hear the Curious Light's ambient sound. This happens because the entrance to The Rooms is really close.
- It has been confirmed that the Curious Light will play a bigger role in the overall game in the future.[citation needed]
- Currently, the Curious Light is technically in all the existing floors in the game (excluding the HOTEL- modifier).
- The Curious Light is most likely one of "The Three Architects" that the Crucifix sigil describes when translated.
- The Curious Light has a connection to the Vials of Starlight, Bottle of Starlight and therefore to the Jug of Starlight, as they emit the yellow sparks of Curious Light especially when it is held in the hand.
- Additionally, the pedestal which the Bottle of Starlight is placed on has the same marks as the yellow doorway back to the Reception which also emits the yellow sparks of the Curious Light.
- Stardust, a currency, also seems to be heavily associated with Curious Light.
- The Curious Light’s theme is pretty similar to Five Night’s at Freddy’s Ultimate Custom Night OST - Last Breath (although this may be coincidental) and the Guiding Light's theme.
- When the player dies for the first time to Blitz, one of the Curious Light's lines are: "She said we should call that one Blitz." As of now, it is unknown who 'she' is.
- When dying to the Lookman or the Vacuum, Curious Light states how Lookman is similar to another entity we've encountered (Eyes), and said that someone or something told the Curious Light that we need oxygen to survive, respectively in The Mines, the Guiding Light seems to confirm to itself that we cannot breathe in firedamp rooms and in water, meaning that it wasn’t 100% sure that we need oxygen, so the "she" is more likely the Guiding Light.
- In one of the death messages for Haste, Curious Light states that it placed down the levers in The Backdoor, meaning that it may have a physical form, or a sense of touch.
- The Curious Light is currently the only architect/light to have ambience, as the Guiding Light only has a theme which is heard after death in The Hotel and the “Red Light” plays no sound at all.
- The Curious Light appears to have its limits, as it gets increasingly more frustrated and annoyed the more times players die in The Backdoor, making it one of the few entities that show emotions and/or feelings.
- The Curious Light's background color and sparkles appeared in the Post-Hunt icon for DOORS.
- This is similar to how every other architect had their background colors appear in an icon for DOORS. With the Hotel+ Update icon having Guiding Light's and the Modifiers update icon having the Red Light's.
- Curious Light's symbol shown in its death screen is usually brighter than Guiding Light's and has light rays passing through the water.
- Curious Light's symbol is displayed on all starlight items (Starlight Vial, Starlight Bottle, etc...) Unlike the Guiding light in which the symbol is only displayed on the crucifix's banishment symbol and the Moonlight Candle's handle, meanwhile the Moonlight Float does not have the associated symbol.
- Curious Light's Backdoor Barrier used to have the Old Curious Light symbol before it was eventually replaced with the new Starlit symbol.[citation needed]

Oh... Hello.
I'm surprised you found this place... It's pretty tedious just to get here, last time I checked. Anyways, what'd you die to? |
A-60 | First Death Oh... the red one. I'm not too sure on what I would call it... |
Well, it usually attacks around room A-60, so...
...you could just call it A-60. I don't know. Anyways, I hope you don't mind trying again. It would be helpful. |
A-90 | First Death Oh that one... |
I hope that one isn't too confusing.
All I'll let you know is that it starts attacking after Room A-90. So, you could call it A-90. Anyways, I hope you don't mind trying again. It would be helpful. | |
A-120 | First Death Oh. The squiggly-face. |
It starts attacking after A-120...
...which just so happens to make a perfect name for it. Anyways, I hope you don't mind trying again. It would be helpful. | |
Welcome back.
The Rooms are quite empty, but the few entities inhabiting them are quite lethal. Which one did you encounter this time? |
A-60 | Second Death A-60 again... |
I don't think this one is too hard to figure out.
Alright, hurry back. We're not done yet. |
A-90 | Second Death A-90 again? |
I don't think I... I don't think this one is too clear.
Hopefully you can figure it out. Alright, hurry back. We're not done yet. | |
A-120 | Second Death A-120 again... |
This shouldn't be hard to figure out either.
Alright, hurry back. We're not done yet. | |
Dead again.
What got you this time? |
A-60 | Third Death A-60 again... |
Hmm... Maybe try hiding next time?
See you next time. |
A-90 | Third Death A-90 again? |
I usually don't give hints, but I'll admit that this one is a bit confusing.
Let's just say that... hmm... it detects movement. See you next time. | |
A-120 | Third Death A-120 again... |
This shouldn't be hard to figure out either.
See you next time. | |
Hmm. What was it this time? | A-60 | Fourth Death A-60 again... |
Hmm... Maybe try hiding next time?
You can do this. I believe in you. I'll see you next time. Right? |
A-90 | Fourth Death A-90 again? |
I usually don't give hints, but I'll admit that this one is a bit confusing.
Let's just say that... hmm... it detects movement. You can do this. I believe in you. I'll see you next time. Right? | |
A-120 | Fourth Death A-120 again... |
This shouldn't be hard to figure out either.
You can do this. I believe in you. I'll see you next time. Right? | |
|
First Death Hmm... |
I'm terribly sorry. I'm not sure what happened to you.
You just... died | |
Second Death Hmm... |
Again. I'm not sure what happened to you.
I think something's causing you to see things... | ||
Third Death Hmm... |
I think I've figured this out.
Something is causing you to see things... and it seems to have induced a heart attack. |
The Backdoor[edit | edit source]
Introduction | Entity | Addressal | Advice |
---|---|---|---|
So... You've found another one of these places.
I'm sure you remember me. Let's see who you died to. |
Blitz | First Death Oh, one of my favorites. |
She said we should call that one Blitz.
Well... I'll see you later, right? You'll come back? Haha... of course you will. You always do. |
Lookman | First Death Hmm... that one. |
You could call it the Lookman, if you like... that's what I call it.
Well... I'll see you later, right? You'll come back? Haha.. of course you will. You always do. | |
Haste | First Death Hmm... looks like you ran out of time. |
You must make haste... ooh, let's call that one Haste!
Well... I'll see you later, right? You'll come back? Haha... of course you will. You always do. | |
Vacuum | First Death Oh, looks like there wasn't anything behind that door... sorry. |
Watch where you're going next time. The vacuum is dangerous.
Well... I'll see you later, right? You'll come back? Haha... of course you will. You always do. | |
The Backdoor is a very old place. No older than The Hotel, but still old.
Somewhat forgotten, too. Some parts seem to be missing entirely. Anyways... what got you this time? |
Blitz | Second Death Blitz got you again? |
Hmm... it's extremely hostile. It's best not to interact with it.
Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. |
Lookman | Second Death The Lookman? |
It's very similar to another entity you've definitely encountered.
You should have enough experience to deal with it. Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Haste | Second Death You ran out of time, and died to Haste. |
I've given you a method to add more time to the clock, though. You're welcome.
You'll be back. See you then. | |
Vacuum | Second Death You were pulled into the vacuum again. |
It's very dangerous to go out there.
The vacuum has no oxygen, and I'm told you need oxygen to survive. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Dead again.
What got you this time? |
Blitz | Third Death Wow... Blitz yet again. |
...You should really know how to handle this by now.
Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. |
Lookman | Third Death Hmm... the Lookman again? |
It's not that hard
I think you're dying on purpose just to annoy me. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Haste | Third Death You ran out of time, and died to Haste. |
Look around for the levers I placed for you... they can be anywhere.
Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Vacuum | Third Death You were sucked out into the vacuum. |
Try to avoid falling out of reality next time.
Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Dead again.
What got you this time? |
Blitz | Fourth Death Wow... Blitz yet again. |
Are you even paying attention?
Come on, you can do this. Just try harder. Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. |
Haste | Fourth Death You ran out of time, and died to Haste. |
Pull the levers for extra time. I made it easy for you on purpose.
Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Vacuum | Fourth Death You were sucked out into the vacuum. |
Good job. Try not walking out there next time.
...Should be pretty obvious. Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. | |
Dead again.
What got you this time? |
Blitz | Fifth Death Wow... Blitz yet again. |
Blitz is extremely hostile. Just avoid it if you have to.
Maybe try a little harder next time. You'll be back. See you then. |
|
First Death Hmm... |
I'm terribly sorry. I'm not sure what happened to you.
You just... died. | |
Second Death Hmm... |
Again. I'm not sure what happened to you.
I think something's causing you to see things... | ||
