"That sucked... but hey, check out this cool flashlight!"
- Back On Track Achievement description
The Shakelight is a variation of the Flashlight that can be obtained in The Rooms.
Usage[edit | edit source]
The Shakelight functions similar to the Flashlight, but has a significantly smaller fuel capacity, only lasting 10.5 seconds; it also emits a green light that is slightly darker. However, instead of using batteries, it can be recharged infinitely by shaking it. Each shake only restores 1.5 seconds of fuel time, so it must be shaken multiple times to fully charge.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- The Shakelight can be purchased in the first room of The Rooms.
- The Shakelight does not reduce the chance of Screech from spawning, despite it being a light source.[citation needed]
- The Shakelight's ability to be recharged at any time allows for it to be used more freely than the flashlight.
- Levels in The Rooms will get progressively darker as the player continues. Thus, it is highly advised that the player purchases the Shakelight if they have no other rechargeable light source.
- A-90 will attack the player if they charge the Shakelight.
- It's advised to only use the Shakelight as a secondary light source, as it's very noisy and since it relies on spam clicks, it can be fatal against A-90 and mask the sounds of A-60 and A-120.
- The Shakelight will alert Figure. This can be useful as you are able to lure it away from teammates or allow you to sneak by while Figure goes to investigate the sound. However, you should not do this when you’re at a dead end, or a location where you can only escape by going through Figure’s path to the sound.
- Some people call this Gummy Flashlight, as that is its name in the original Rooms.
- The Shakelight will atract gloombats
- The player must unequip it in this case since it cannot be turned off by any way
- The Prize Inside candy of Trick Or Treat can give you The Shakelight though the chances are low
Pros and Cons Pros and Cons
Pros[edit | edit source]
- Long range directional.
- Does not require batteries to function, infinitely rechargeable.
- Does not randomly flicker.
- Works underwater.
- Cheapest item in the game, costing only 10 Gold.
- Can stun Giggles and slow Grumbles down.
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Fuel time drains very quickly.
- Dims when power is low.
- Cannot be turned off.
- Dimmer than the Flashlight.
- Very noisy, causing Figure to hear the shake sound and potentially masking the sounds of entities.
- Causes Gloombats to attack when left on.
- Can only be obtained in The Rooms, or using the Trick or Treat modifier.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Shakelight's old name was Gummy Flashlight.
- The item is a reference to the original Rooms made by nicorocks5555, in which players could obtain it through a gamepass.
- The item's appearance closely resembles that of the real life "NightStar II CS2" Shake Flashlight.
- The Shakelight's icon filename is "my name is jeff".
- Originally, its name referred to a Halt Flashlight Skin, meant to be a red herring.
- This item functions similarly and is inspired by the flashlight in Tattletail, another popular horror indie game.
- If you eat the "You Finally Turn Green" Candy during the 2024 Trick Or Treat Event, this item has a incredibly small chance of being found in drawers, or being purchased from Jeff's Shop.
- If you buy enough shakelights, it becomes free. (might be a bug)
- Whilst using the Wet Floor Modifier, holding the Shakelight negates the whole modifier.
- This can also be seen with the Super Hard Mode Modifier, as the movement in the old version has some momentum, similar to Wet Floor.
- Before the Hotel+ Update, a unfinished version of the Shakelight could be find in the game files only 30 seconds after the game started.
