The Starlight Vial was added on March 15th, 2024 in The Hunt: First Edition update.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Starlight Vial appears as a cylindrical potion with a golden liquid with Curious Light's symbol in a white color on its middle. The cork has a glowing circular line going around it.
Usage[edit | edit source]
When used, the Starlight Vial makes Players glow, heals 25% of the player's maximum health and provides a speed boost. The healing done by Starlight Vial can reach over maximum HP, granting players a a temporary star shield. This drains at a rate that causes them to reach full health once the effect ends, so long as no damage is taken during that time. The speed boost, glow, and star shield last for around 5 seconds. The Starlight Vial doesn't affect any instant-death entities , although the extra health is present.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Multiple Starlight Vials cannot be taken in quick succession (and by extension, players cannot stack its effects). After the effects wear off, players must wait a few seconds before using another.
- Starlight Vials can be helpful in running through rooms quickly after a setback from Blitz, or can heal after being hurt by The Lookman.
- If using the vial at full health, players will be given a temporary star shield that will slowly decay.
- The potion can save from entities that deal at least 100 damage or more such as Ambush or Blitz but still get damaged by them.[2]
- The Starlight Vial will heal 25% of your maximum health, which allows a maximum of 125 HP with Star Shield (assuming your max health is 100 HP and you're at full health).
- This is the exact amount of damage Rush and A-60 deal, meaning you cannot survive Rush or A-60 using a lesser Starlight Vial. You have to use a Bottle of Starlight to survive either one of them.
- The player might be able to find more than 5 Starlight Vials in a run on the Backdoor, but this is rare, normally finding 3 to 4
Pros and Cons Pros and Cons
Pros[edit | edit source]
- Maximum stack of 5 per player.
- May be used to regain lost time from multiple Blitz encounters, reducing the risk of Haste.
- The speed effects of Starlight Vial can be stacked with Vitamins, giving a very short but very quick speed boost.
- They are comparatively easy to collect many of, as they are plentiful in The Backdoor, though you may need to spend your time there wisely.
- It can be used as a light source for dark rooms if a player has no kind of light source, such as a Flashlight, Lighter, etc.
- Gives a pseudo-shield bar when Star Shield is active, the effect being able to defend you from non-instant death entities such as Ambush.
- Can prevent the death of a player if they are using the Last Breath modifier, only if the entity who deals the damage to a player is not equal/higher to 25 or an instant death entity.
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Speed Boost cannot be stacked with itself or other starlight items.
- The speed boost is only 5 seconds, and the star shield drains quickly.
- The amount of Star shield gained from the Starlight Vial, even when used at 100 HP, it cannot defend from Rush or A-60.
- Star Shield cannot save players from instant death entities such as Seek, Figure, Dread, A-120, Haste, and Queen Grumble (During chases sequences/Second Seek Chase attacks). This includes hazards such as Seek's many minions (hands, sludge, worm, etc.), falling to your death or crashing your minecart during Seek's chase in The Mines, drowning, exploding by lighter detonation or suffocating in a Firedamp room or dying by falling out of the map because of Glitch being unsuccessful in rescuing a player.
- Only obtainable in The Backdoor.
- Cannot be used to create Curious Light's Rift
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The name "Starlight Vial" comes from the developer console "Starlight", as when drinking it a message is created in the console that mentions the vial as "Starlit".
- The Starlight Vial might have been a way for the developers to actually add the Mini Shield Potion from the Super Hard Mode Event into the game.
- There is a special line that El Goblino will say when you're holding the Starlight Vial in front of him. He will say "Wh-what is dat, hombre? A golden liquid... beautiful! Oye... can I have a sip?"
- The Starlight Vial is the first canon Item ever made that could stack higher then 3, another being the Glowstick.
