"I can't feel my legs."
- A-1000 Achievement description
The Starlight Jug[1] (also known as the Barrel of Starlight, Jug of Starlight, or Chug Jug) is a consumable item that is obtainable at Room A-1000 of The Rooms. It is a replacement for the NVCS-3000, which was made obtainable at the end of The Rooms after the Floor 2 update.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
The Starlight Jug appears as a cylindrical, medium potion with the shape as of a jug, with the same golden liquid inside it like the Starlight Bottle and Starlight Vial, the same yellowish-white outline appears both down and up, with Curious Light's same icon on the glass.
Usage[edit | edit source]
When used, the Starlight Jug makes players glow, heals 100 HP (with overheal/Star Shield if applicable), and provides a great speed boost. The healing done by the Starlight Jug can reach above maximum health, granting players temporary over-heal called Star Shield if possible. The Star Shield decays at a slow rate until completely gone, lasting 135 seconds if no damage is taken. The speed boost and glow last for 135 seconds, regardless of any other factors. It doesn't affect any instant-death entities, such as Seek, The Figure, Dread, A-120 and the Queen Grumble in its in-cutscene chases.
In The Mines, the Starlight Jug can be used to trade with Louie. If done so, Louie will always give the player a Skeleton Key, Shears, a Spotlight and a Gween Soda. Further trade attempts will cause nothing, as Louie has no items to give to the player.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- The Starlight Jug can be consumed up to 4 times before being discarded, making it unique when compared to its smaller counterparts.
- The Starlight Jug will always give a player Star Shield, as it heals 100% of the player's maximum health.
- Additionally, the Star Shield decreases at roughly 0.8 hp every second.
- For comparison, a Starlight Bottle's Star Shield decays at a rate of 5 hp/sec, while a Starlight Vial's Star Shield decays at about 3.6 hp/sec.
- This means that one health point from the Starlight Jug lasts 6 times longer when compared to the Starlight Bottles', and 4.3 times longer than the Starlight Vial's.
- If the Starlight Jug is consumed before being stored in the Rift, the amount consumed does save, meaning that a single Starlight Jug can only be consumed 4 times.
- The Starlight Jug can be refilled and duplicated when surviving a Glitch Fragment encounter.
- It's recomended to do this at The Reception in The Hotel or The Adit in The Mines since you can't die there.
Pros and Cons Pros and Cons
Pros[edit | edit source]
- Can be consumed up to 4 times.
- Provides a massive amount of Star Shield if used at full health, which allows a player to survive any entity that doesn't cause instant death (such as Rush, Ambush, or A-60).
- It can be used as a light source for dark rooms if a player has no other light sources, including a flashlight, lighter, etc.
- Can be stored in the Rift after consumed, allowing players to massively boost their speed at the start of a run, making it very helpful for speedruns or no hiding runs.
- Star Shield decays far slower than its smaller counterparts.
- Can prevent the death of a player if they are using the Last Breath modifier, (as long as the entity's damage isn't superior to 100 or instakill).
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Mostly difficult to obtain, requiring a player to reach A-1000 to obtain, which typically takes over 2 or 3 hours.
- Star Shield cannot save players from any instant death entities such as Seek, Figure, Dread, A-120, Haste, and Queen Grumble (On chases sequences/Second Seek Chase attacks ). This includes hazards such as Seek's forms (hands, sludge, worm, etc.), falling to your death or crashing your minecart during Seek's chase in The Mines, drowning, exploding by a Lighter detonation or suffocating in a Firedamp room or dying by falling out of the map because of Glitch being unsuccessful in rescuing a player.
- Star Shield decays over time, although the extremely slow rate of decay mitigates this to some extent.
- Cannot be used to create Curious Light's Rift.
- Takes a very long time to be able to consume it again.
- Sally might appear from a window and steal it, if you don't have at least over 2 items or if you are holding it (or dropped it).

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Starlight Jug appears to be a larger counterpart to the Starlight Bottle and the Starlight Vial.
- However, despite this item being very similar to the Starlight Bottle and the Starlight Vial, it cannot be found in The Backdoor and can be consumed multiple times.
- The Starlight Jug is linked to the Curious Light, as it has a similar color scheme and is found in The Rooms, within which the Curious Light appears.
- Any NVCS-3000s stored in the rift were turned into Starlight Jug after the Floor 2 update.
- LSPLASH stated that the real name for the Starlight Jug is the "chug jug" [2], known as a joke.
- Prior to The Content Update trailer, this item was referred to as the "Barrel of Starlight" by the community.
- The Admin Panel later confirmed the name Starlight Jug, as well as the model being named "StarJug".
- El Goblino has a special line when the player holds a Starlight item out in front of him. He will say "Wh-what is dat, hombre? A golden liquid... beautiful! Oye... can I have a sip?"
- Redibles has confirmed that the Starlight Jug tastes like pickle juice.[citation needed]
