- Expert Technician Achievement description
Circuit Breaker Switches are items that are found inside The Electrical Room and are used to complete the Circuit Breaker Puzzle, powering the elevator.
Overview[edit | edit source]
In The Electrical Room, Breaker Switches are found in areas such as the labyrinth hallways, storage rooms, and near the Elevator. Being an essential item, these switches will be highlighted by the Guiding Light after a short period of time, making them easier to find. (This will not happen if players have the “Gone Fishing” and/or “soundproofing” Modifiers active, due to them disabling Guiding Light or the Guiding Light's sound respectively)
The Breaker Switches will spawn randomly around the area in different sections of room 100, often on the ground or shelves. Players will have to collect all 10 Breaker switches, find the key to unlock the door to the breaker room (although they don't have to if they have a Lockpick) and place them all in. Once done, players will be able to solve the Circuit Breaker Puzzle.
Usage[edit | edit source]
Pressing E (on PC), or Xbox X (on Xbox), or the interact button (on mobile) will make the breaker switch despawn (along with the Guiding Light's illumination) and display an icon indicating that you have collected the breaker switch.
Once collecting all 10 circuit breaker switches, the player can insert them into the Circuit Breaker Puzzle, which is needed to be solved in order to progress to the elevator and beat The Hotel.
Strategies[edit | edit source]
- The timer for Guiding Light to highlight the Breaker Switches begins when a player opens door 100, not when Figure is spawned. This means that players can wait around for the switches to be illuminated safely and not have to risk retracing their steps to find them all.
- After players have been in The Electrical Room for roughly a minute, Guiding Light will intensify the light and particles around the switches, which makes them easier to find.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Breaker switches emit a faint shimmering sound (from the Guiding Light), similar to the sound Room Keys make. So long as players have their volume turned up, this quality makes it far easier to identify any switches near them.
- Ten breaker switches can be found. Unlike Library Books, all of them will be needed to power the elevator.
- As of the Mines update, picking up a breaker switch makes a noise and will sometimes attract Figure, depending on how far away it is.
- Unlike in The Library, getting a breaker switch will not increase Figure's speed (Its speed will always remain as if players have found 2 books in The Library).
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- When collecting a Breaker Switch there will be an icon of a Breaker Switch and underneath, a bar spilt in ten sections. For every Breaker Switch collected, it will show one section filling up. Once all ten sections are filled, along with the Key to the breaker, players can go to the breaker, unlock the door and put the breaker switches in and a cutscene will play.
- Players will not have to find the Key if they have a Lockpick.
