Overview[edit | edit source]
When the player picks up an item, it will be placed in their inventory, a UI feature from which you can see that item's icon, what number on their keyboard to press to equip the item, the number of stacks if multiple of the same item can be carried at once and, if applicable, a meter showing the remaining uses/usage time of the item.
The player's inventory has limited space, only allowing them to carry up to 6 unique items at once. However, items that are required to progress, such as keys and fuses, will bypass this limit. These items will have smaller icons and striped lines under them in the inventory.
There is also a limit to how many of a stackable item the player can carry at once, which varies depending on the item. With the Small Hands modifier, the player can only hold 3 non-progressive items. With Baby Hands, the player can only hold 1 non-progressive item.
To select an item, players can do one of the following things:
- On mobile, tapping the item you wish to equip.
- On computer, clicking the corresponding number, or by scrolling with the scroll wheel.
- Additionally, it is possible to click on any item if the player has the settings menu open.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- The player can drop an item by equipping it then pressing X or Backspace on their keyboard.
- For mobile, you can hold the inventory button to drop an item.
- This is also possible on computer, however you will need to bring up the settings menu to be able to click on the items.
- For mobile, you can hold the inventory button to drop an item.
- If the player is holding an item and tries to pick up another item while their inventory is full, the items will be swapped.
- Essential and non-essential items get smaller as more essential items are in the players’ inventory.
Stackable Items[edit | edit source]
These are items that the player can carry multiple of at once in the same stack.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- It is possible to have 8 or more items at once. This is because the Solution Paper and the Library Books can both be inside a temporary slot at once.
- The limit inventory was added in The Mines Update which only allowed 6 non-essential items by default. Prior to the update, essential and non-essential items looked and worked the same way in the inventory.
- Prior to The Mines Update, players could get items indefinitely, but getting new ones while already having 10 of them would move them to the Roblox Inventory, not visible in the hotbar and at the menu, making it impossible to use them if the player unequips them once, as the Roblox Inventory is not directly accessible in DOORS.
- This is the main reason of the change in the inventory system. The old inventory system could cause softlocks if the player got a Room Key while already having 10 other items and unequipped it.
- More items are constantly added to the game, making this change more and more necessary, as this was previously only possible in Super Hard Mode, and in very rare situations anyways.

- Since The Mines Update, switching items can be done through the scroll wheel if using a mouse.
- In RANKED Mode, the maximum slots are 5 items only.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- In RANKED Mode, Props can bypass the inventory limit. Picking up other item while holding a prop will replace that slot with the item, being able to have more items than the intended limit. This can be repeated multiple times.
- When using "More Stuff", "Less Stuff", or "Out Of Stuff" modifier, it cannot be used with "Small Hands" or "Baby Hands" even though it only affects items and not inventory modifiers.
- Another possible quirk is that when using "Wear And Tear" modifier, it cannot be used with "Small Hands" or "Baby Hands" too.
