- Improvise Achievement description
Generators are Features only found in The Mines. They can appear in certain rooms and must be activated in order to progress forward.
Usage[edit | edit source]
Generator[edit | edit source]
Generators are essential for powering large, metal doors that hinder the player's progress to the next door. To activate a generator, players would need to simply pull the lever located on it. However, three fuses are required for it to function. Depending on the room, 0-2 fuses are automatically inserted into the generator (expect for one located in The Dam). Once activated, the generator will restore power to the gate, enabling you to open it by pressing the button that is located within the room and proceed further. Generators serve as the equivalent to The Hotel's Room Keys in The Mines.
Gate Button[edit | edit source]
The Gate Button spawns alongside Generators and are located by the metal doors. Its purpose is to open the metal gate once the Generator is fully powered. A small light on the side of the button will light up once the Generator has been powered. Players can press the button beforehand, but it will do nothing. Once a player has pushed the button when it's activated, the metal gate will begin to rise.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Generators can be seen twice in the DOORS: FLOOR 2 TEASER.
- The Generator's mechanic was also showcased in the DOORS: FLOOR 2 FULL TRAILER.
- Generators seem to emit a faint, pastel yellow light around it.
- The fuses seen when placed on a fully-powered generator depict the colors of The Three Architects.
- Players can use lockpicks to bypass generators by taking up a slot, as an impractical alternative for a fuse. This can help the player reduce the time to look for fuses.
- Doing so will give the player the "Improvise" achievement for the first time.
- This is recommended when the generators are only missing a fuse or if the players are having trouble looking for one in bigger rooms, as it can be a waste of a lockpick. Fuses can also be typically easy to find in smaller rooms, in which player are advised to save the lockpicks for other purposes such as locked lockers or containers.
- This feature was suggested by a user when developers were looking for any suggestions for improvement in The Mines through a post on Twitter/X.
- The Figure can interact with the generators by slamming on it as of the Content Update.
- The slamming sounds were discovered in the game files and were unused prior to said update.
- The Generator in The Dam needed all three fuses to be found after The Mines Update. However, this was changed shortly after, as all of them are already placed beforehand, only requiring the player to pull it.
- Generators can sometimes spawn in side-rooms in generator-locked rooms.
