"Hmm... I'm terribly sorry. I'm not sure what happened to you. You just... died." - Guiding Light 2024 Trick Or Treat Event has been removed, The Modifier is still in-game, but the badges are no longer obtainable, and the event is permanently no longer in-game. This article serves as a record for something that was removed or archived. |

</choose> The 2024 Trick or Treat Event, or The Haunt Event, was a limited-time Halloween event that lasted from October 24, 2024, to December 4, 2024. It was an official event made in collaboration with the Roblox Team as part of a larger event known as "The Haunt", which ended on November 1, 2024.
Overview[edit | edit source]
New Modifier[edit | edit source]
Trick or Treat is a modifier that adds a new candy item into the game that, when eaten, has random effects that may positively or negatively affect a player's run. It also adds fog and Halloween-themed decorations to the hotel.
Players also had the ability to screenshot things in the game and upload it for the haunt contest.
After the event's conclusion, the haunt elevators were later converted into just a modifier, and all Halloween-themed decorations and assets were removed, and the Trick or Treat modifier does not save candy progress once enabled.

Floors: The Hotel, The Mines
Lobby Changes[edit | edit source]
- Halloween-themed decorations were added to the Hotel and the Lobby.
- A new elevator had been introduced.
- A UGC area has been added, displaying 3 characters at a time that can be swapped around.
- The unused candle designs were added to the lobby, sitting atop a couple of tables that were running down the middle of the Lobby.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- If "I Spy" is used in The Reception, Eyes will spawn in the next room, and will be gone once the first door is opened.
- Captures do not work often after entering the Hotel nor the Mines.
- The "Look, Man" effect does not always spawn the Lookman.
List of Candies[edit | edit source]
Main Page: Candy
Positive[edit | edit source]
- Good Aftertaste: Gives a health regeneration boost, healing 25 HP in total.
- Great Aftertaste: Gives a large health regeneration boost, healing 50 HP in total.
- Guidance: Exclusive to Guiding Light candies. Spawns Guiding Light, which does the following:
- Illuminates the door to the next room.
- Temporarily highlights and permanently illuminates Figure and the Grumbles, as well as any Keys, Fuses, Generators, Levers, Library Books, Anchors, Circuit Breaker Switches and gate power buttons, allowing them to be seen through walls for 1 minute and 15 seconds.
- Prize Inside: A random item gets dropped, including items that can't usually be acquired through normal means (example being Jeff's Tip Jar), The Mines items in Floor 1 (e.g.: Glowsticks, Battery Pack), or Backdoor Items (Vials of Starlight and Bottle of Starlight)
- Made with Gold: Gives gold based on a player current amount up to 100. (Not Confirmed)
- Decent Candy: Heals 5 HP to a player.
- Good Candy: Heals 10 HP to a player.
- Tasty Candy: Heals 20 HP to a player.
- Delicious Candy: Heals 40 HP to a player.
- Duplication: Duplicates all of a player's items, dropping them on the floor. Does not duplicate candies or puzzle items; duplicated items share their counts and charge levels.
- Money Walks: Gives 1 gold per tick while walking for 60 seconds. (This can award 120 coins if you do not stop walking for the duration of the boost).
- I Can't Stop: Gives a massive speed boost for around 2 to 3 seconds.
- Energized: Sets all item charges to 100%, (not including Bandage Pack or Battery Pack).
- Cinnamon: Gives a small but permanent speed boost, it will be removed if you use any other speed changing candies, it's also stackable.
- Cough Drop: Grants 30 overheal (Star Shield) that does not decay overtime. (If overheal that decays overtime is given, all overheal will decay)
- Glowing: Gives a player a bright purple glow for a moderate duration, useful for navigating through dark rooms without a light source.
Neutral[edit | edit source]
- Investment: Removes all your Gold and then returns 1.5x to 2x the amount of gold that was removed if you eat another 'Investment' Candy.
- Regurgitate: Spews out the last candy you ate. If it is the first candy you have eaten on a floor, it will spit out a random candy. It cannot regurgitate a Regurgitate candy.
- In The Middle: Immediately sets your health to 50%, independent of the current health being below half or higher than half.
- Brittle: Permanently lowers your max health but also gives a permanent, but small, speed boost.
- Rock Candy: Grants God Mode to the player for around 2 seconds at the cost of a temporary reduction in walkspeed by 80%.
- You Finally Turn Green: Your avatar and the screen turn green. Also gives an incredibly small chance of finding the Shakelight inside containers or being sold at the Jeff Shop.
- Not Crazy: Starts playing more ambience noises.
- Nothing?: Drastically increases the spawn chance of Jack's Hallway Form, it can also raise the movement speed of Ambush and/or Rush.
- Hard Candy: Permanently reduces your walkspeed (this can be negated permanently by using any item that boosts speed during Seek chase) but gives more health.
- Volatile Starlight: Exclusive to Curious Light candies. Gives a large speed boost, alongside one of three effects:
- Gives a varying amount of overheal that decays over time.
- Deals random damage or healing to a player.
- Causes a player to explode for (approximately) 100 damage, similar to a Firedamp Leak explosion, or the Can-Die candy.
- Nausea: Gives a player a speed boost but also causes their camera to rotate extremely. This sway can trigger A-90 if it is on screen.
- Terminal Velocity: Ragdolls and flings a player to a direction aimed at, this can be useful if you want to zoom though rooms that are long like The Dining Hall, The Grand Hallway or if you need to escape from Entities.
Negative[edit | edit source]
- Can-Die: Exclusive to the Modifier candies. Deals 100 damage and used to count as 5 candies towards the candy counter during the event.
- Bad Aftertaste: Inflicts 25 damage over a few seconds.
- Horrible Aftertaste: A stronger variant of Bad Aftertaste which deals 50 damage over time.
- I Spy: Spawns 2 sets of Eyes that can teleport.
- Earmuffs: Muffles most sounds for an estimated 40 to 60 seconds.
- Psst...: Spawns Screech 3-4 times regardless of the lights, allowing more than one Screech to be active simultaneously.
- Lights Out: Breaks all the lights in every open room.
- Run From It: Immediately spawns Dread.
- No Hiding For You: Activates Hide's effect, dealing 40 damage and preventing hiding for a few seconds.
- Look, Man: Spawns The Lookman, allowing it to appear in the current or next two rooms.
- Infested: Spawns Gloombats, regardless of the floor.
- Butterfingers: Causes all items to drop, as well as any you pick up for a short time.
- Bad Candy: Deals 10 damage.
- Expired Candy: A buffed version of Bad Candy, it deals 20 damage.
- Jinkies!: Blurs a player's vision for an estimated 40-60 seconds.
- Silky Smooth: Spawns Timothy instantly (without a drawer), dealing 5 damage.
- Room For More?: Spawns A-90 once after a short delay.
- Out Of Battery: Sets all item charges to less than 10%.
- Tax Deductions: You lose some of your Gold. If you have no Gold, then the candy does nothing.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- At the start of the event, it was possible to activate other modifiers alongside the Trick Or Treat modifier. This was fixed a few hours later to prevent leaderboard unfairness, as positive modifiers made earning candy easier.[1]
- Since the end of the event, it is possible to use Trick Or Treat alongside other modifiers again.
- During a Q&A,[2] LightningSplash said that DOORS would not be in The Haunt to spare himself the stress of trying to meet a tight deadline.
- Upon continuing to The Mines, candies in your inventory will become invisible and unusable.
- If a player gets the "Infested" effect after eating a candy, they are still able to get the Gloombats badge, even if they are in The Hotel.
- Sally and Bob had a new design in the Lobby.
- Prior to The Content update, Lookman cannot be crucified if spawned with the "Look, Man" candy and this goes the same for A-90 if spawned with the "Room for More?" candy.
- However, as of the Content update, both Lookman and A-90 can be crucified if spawned with those candies.
- The trick or treat update also fixed a bug with the Meet Jack achievement, where you couldn't get it for encountering Closet Jack. It also added a new secret achievement, called "You're It", which you can obtain by playing a round in the Courtyard map in Untitled Tag Game.
- LSPLASH has confirmed that after the event ends, the Trick Or Treat modifier will stay, however, the modifier will also add "NO PROGRESS".[3]
- Like LSPLASH said, the Trick Or Treat modifier became a "NO PROGRESS" modifier after the event ended. However, after the Content update released, the "NO PROGRESS" effect was removed from the modifier and the modifier itself become a progress-able modifier with a -50% knobs bonus and a "NO RIFT" effect, though it's unknown why this happened.
- If Dread is spawned from the "Run from It" effect, players will not get the badge for encountering it.
- Despite this, "It's Not My Time", the badge for using the Crucifix on Dread, could still be earned.
- On November 19, 2024, LSPLASH posted that it would be the final week of the event before being reverted.
- Eating the "Room For More?" candy only spawns A-90 for the player who ate it, unlike in The Rooms or with either of The Rooms modifiers active, where A-90 spawns for all players in the server.
- This effect also share with Glitch Fragment if when a player is interacting with it, making only the player that interacted with it have to deal with glitches entities spawned by the Glitch Fragment.
Cultural References[edit | edit source]
- The "Jinkies!" candy is a reference to Velma from Scooby-Doo franchise, who is known for having terrible vision and using this slang word.
