"NOTICE: WILL LIGHTEN WHEN POWERED "
- The text on the mines Elevator in The Electrical Room.
Elevators, or Entrance in two expections (Backdoor, Rooms), are devices in DOORS used to transport players into the game and to finish a run. There are currently 7 types of elevators in DOORS, including non-canon ones.
Overview
The Hotel elevator is a device or source of transportation used to access the first floor. It is a small, run of the mill elevator, with a metal gate, as well as two sliders. Up to four players can be inside an elevator at one time, although this is expanded to 12 in private servers, and it is expanded to 50 in custom elevators.
The Mines elevator is located in The Electrical Room. It can be operated once the circuit puzzle has been completed. It resembles a typical mining/freight elevator, and inside are lamps, crates, and the electrical room key prior to The Hotel+ Update.
Hotel Elevators
Lobby and The Reception
The Hotel elevators can be found in the lobby and the reception room. Up to four people can fit inside at one time. (50 if made in the custom elevator menu.) If a minimum of one player enters, a countdown will begin, lasting from 5–30 seconds. Once it reaches zero, the player(s) will be taken to the first floor.
Inside the elevators are a set of buttons that cannot be interacted with. The elevator song called "Elevator Jam" will start to play. A large, glowing button will allow instant access to the Reception once pressed, although everyone must be spawned in and finished with the Pre-Run Shop first.
After all players exit The Hotel elevator, the elevator door closes and is unable to be accessed again. If all players exit and a player goes back in, that player will be kicked out in about 3–5 seconds and the elevator gate will close.

There are also two extra inaccessible elevator doors that do not appear to have anything behind them.
Backdoor Elevator and Entrance
Prior to the Post-Hunt Update, the right alcove in the Lobby contained four elevators that were entirely blue with a square particle effect inside. The elevator leaded to Room -51, acting similarly to the Hotel's version, except it lacked the Pre-Run Shop and the song Elevator Jam. Interestingly, the elevator returned to the Hotel's colors when it loaded into The Backdoor, rather than keeping the blue color.
The Backdoor elevators were then replaced with its entrance outside the Lobby that acts the same as the elevators, with the only differences being the fact that there's only one of them, it requires the "Detour" achievement, and it has an entirely different appearance. It is also referred to as an entrance rather than an elevator.
Mines Elevator
The Electrical Room
The Mines elevator is encountered in Room 100, past the sliding doors. In order to utilize it, the power must be restored via the circuit breaker puzzle. After everyone who is alive has made it into the elevator, a cutscene will play where the elevator door closes on Figure, stopping the entity from killing the players inside the elevator. Shortly, as an attempt to kill the players, Figure returns and jumps on top of the elevator and rips a cable, eventually losing balance and tumbling into a mineshaft. A few more cables disconnect, causing the elevator to fall uncontrollably and plummet into The Mines.
The Adit
The Mines elevator can be found in The Adit or the Lobby (by creating one). Up to 50 people can fit inside at one time. If a minimum of one player enters, a countdown will begin, lasting from 5–30 seconds. Once it reaches zero, the player(s) will be taken to the second floor.
Inside the elevator is a button saying "NOTICE: WILL LIGHTEN WHEN POWERED." A different and more intense elevator song will start to play. A large, glowing button will allow instant access to The Adit once pressed, although everyone must be spawned in and finished with the Pre-Run Shop first.
When all players are done the Pre-Run Shop or pressed the button a cutscene of the elevator hitting the ground will play and than every single person in the elevator will get loaded in The Mines.
Non-Canon Elevators
Players can make their own custom elevators for The Hotel , The Backdoor and The Mines in the Lobby. They can choose up to 50 players in their game, as well as a friends only option. This also applies for Modifiers, in which you will need to require the 'Rock Bottom' achievement to allow use to the elevator. In Private Servers, you can have up to 12 people in a single elevator. Note: To make a custom elevator for The Backdoor, you will require the 'Detour' achievement.
SUPER HARD MODE!!! Elevators
In SUPER HARD MODE!!!, the elevators in the Lobby took a rusted appearance. The same rusted elevators did not appear in the The Reception, and appeared as normal The Hotel elevators, although, they were on the opposite side of the room when entering.
RETRO MODE Elevators
In RETRO MODE, the solo and duo elevators on the right side of the Lobby have been altered; both the elevators became squad elevators, and take on the appearance of a gray, study and blocky elevator. The elevator in that mode does not have the Pre-Run Shop and the alternate soundtrack of "Elevator Jam" plays on an unanchored radio beside the elevator, rather than inside.
PARTY MODE Elevators
In PARTY MODE, most of the elevators on the right side of the lobby were changed into purple glowing elevators which were able to hold up to 8 players. When loaded in, the elevators appearance would look just like the hotel's elevator. There would be no elevator jam and would instead have a countdown from 3.
Bugs
- With certain timing, the player can enter a closing elevator and get stuck there.
- However, if a player decides to stay in the elevator, they will be teleported out of it regularly when the doors start to close.
- When the player teleports into the Modifiers elevator, the outside lobby music plays for a brief moment.
- There is a bug that causes the player to fall in the void upon exiting modifiers elevator.
Trivia
- Elevator from DOORS is inspired by the elevator from Rooms at the starting point, the key difference being that in Rooms the player stands in front of it, while in DOORS the player is inside of it.
- The OST heard when riding in the elevator is called Elevator Jam.
- Elevator Jam sounds similar to Kevin MacLeod - Local Forecast (Elevator Music), Life in an Elevator, and sounds very similar to Undertale OST 54 - Hotel.
- Despite the maximum players allowed to fit in an elevator being 50, it is discouraged to play with groups past four, as hiding spaces can become an issue, especially in Room 99, as prior to the Hotel+ Update, the player could backtrack to Room 99 to hide from the Figure.
- The Hotel elevator has some resemblance with the Elevator from Dark Deception's First Level: Monkey Business.
- The sound of the rain and the fireplace can be heard while being in elevator, so the player isn't actually going up or down.
- If the player walks into the elevator, the sound of footsteps on a carpet will be played.
- When the Content Update was released, the maximum amount of people in a custom elevator was raised from 12 to 50.
- The Elevator Door Moving sound is used in the Mega Token quest in Untitled Tag Game.[1]
