Items can be bought at the start of each run and can occasionally be found in drawers. They offer small or drastic advantages to the user, such as making dark rooms easier to go through or getting rid of an entity temporarily. They do not save the next time you play (unless you placed said item in a Rift and can only be used in the run you bought/found them.
