- Guiding Light
NVCS-3000 has been removed. It is still obtainable in SUPER HARD MODE!!! Modifier, however it is (temporarily[1]) no longer in-game. This article serves as a record for something that was removed or archived.

"Reveals objects, night vision"
- Pre-Run Shop, during the 2023 April Fools Event.

The NVCS-3000, was previously a unique utility item obtainable in Room A-1000 of The Rooms. As of the The Mines Update, all NVCS-3000s that were stored in the rift have been converted to a Jug of Starlight. Currently, it can only be obtained in the SUPER HARD MODE!!! event, and it is stated to return in the future.[1]

Usage Usage[edit | edit source]

When players had the NVCS-3000 equipped, it could be turned ON and OFF upon pressing LMB, and would always turn ON upon being equipped. If a player was on mobile, then they would be able to turn it on and off with the interact button.

Functions[edit | edit source]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The NVCS-3000 does not detect when a breaker switch has been collected in The Electrical Room, still marking collected fuses with a star, making it harder to use.
    • Additionally, the NVCS-3000 can alert Figure when powered on, so caution is advised when using it in The Library and The Electrical Room.
  • In locked rooms, the NVCS-3000 highlighted Dupe doors, which is useful if the previous door number is marked off by the entity.
  • The light the NVCS-3000 emits did not lower the chance of Screech spawning.

Pros and Cons Pros and Cons

Positive Pros[edit | edit source]

  • Extremely useful for finding progressive items such as levers or circuit breakers switches.
  • Is especially useful in Figure Rooms, or dark puzzle rooms with large amounts of space, like Room 61.
  • No usage limit.
  • Night vision when looking through the screen.

Negative Cons[edit | edit source]

  • Will not lower the chances of Screech spawning.
  • Because of the way the NVCS-3000 is held, it can be difficult to see at some angles.
  • The NVCS-3000 does not detect when a breaker switch has been collected in The Electrical Room, still marking collected fuses with a star, making it slightly harder to use.
  • It takes up a decent amount of the players' view.
  • Upon entering a new room, its screen briefly shows a blank space and static where a room would be before displaying the room.
    • This is because of the Viewport Frame contained in the NVCS-3000's UI, which must render a copy of the room before the NVCS-3000 can display it. It displays one at a time to reduce lag.
      • Additionally, most entities, paintings, door numbers, or even sometimes the doors will not render at all, but are still able to be seen in-game, just not on the NVCS-3000.
  • Can only be obtained at Jeff's Shop in SUPER HARD MODE!!! at a hefty 1000 Coins.
  • Can alert Figure when powered on.

Trivia Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The average time of getting 2 NVCS-3000s in 2 Rifts is 6 Hours and 7 Minutes.
    • A player would need to traverse through 2234 rooms to do this.
  • The NVCS-3000 was added to DOORS as a joke.[2]
  • The NVCS-3000 always displays text that says "30 FPS" on the top right of its screen.
  • The NVCS-3000 displays text that reads "NVCS-3000" on its screen. This is also its model number.
  • The NVCS-3000 is named "Scanner" in the game's files, and its image texture is named "Images/icon_ghostcatcher."
  • Since The Mines Update, all existing NVCS-3000s have been replaced with Jugs of Starlight, including the ones that stored in the Rift. [3]
  • The controversial rarity of the NVCS-3000 is due to its poor optimization, resulting in the developers not wanting for it to be easy to obtain due to possibly causing server-wide lag.[4]
    • On low-end devices, the NVCS-3000 when equipped would cause severe frame-rate issues.
  • The NVCS-3000 will likely be revamped in the future, due to it currently being an unfinished item.[5]
  • Although the acronym for NVCS-3000 is unknown, it’s theorized that it could stand for "Night Vision Camera Sensor 3000" or rather "Night Vision Camera Scanner 3000."
  • Using the NVCS-3000 in Jeff's Shop will cause the music to overlap.
  • During the 2023 April Fools Event, this item appeared in the Pre-Run Shop for
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
1,000; clicking on it displayed a message saying it was out of stock.
    • A possible reason for the NVCS-3000 to be out of stock is that it would be way easier to get. Alternatively, it could be due to the developers knowing how badly players want it, and therefore having to tease them with it.
    • Even if players do not have enough Knobs, the messages still appear.
    • Despite not being available in the Pre-Run Shop, it can be bought in Jeff's Shop for Gold1,000, or rarely found while looting.[6]
      • Note that in this game mode, the Rift is not present in The Electrical Room, so the NVCS-3000 cannot be saved.
      • This is currently the only way to obtain this item after the Mines update.
    • Repeatedly clicking on the NVCS-3000 in the Pre-Run Shop in the 2023 April Fools Event would display the following messages:[7]
      • 1 = April Fools!
      • 2-4 = April Fools...?
      • 5-7 = Can you read?
      • 8-10 = You can't get it.
      • 11-13 = It's unavailable.
      • 14-16 = Buddy...
      • 17-19 = That hurts, you know!!
      • 20-22 = Please stop pressing me!!
      • 23-26 = :(
      • 27-29 = >:(
      • 30-34 = >:O

      • 40 = ):
      • 41 = >:I
      • 42 = >_<
      • 43 = (ㆆ_ㆆ)
      • 44 = ≧◉Д◉≦
      • 45 = (っ ` Д ´ )
      • 46 = (┳﹏┳)
      • 47-48 = ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻
      • 49-54 = Alright. I ran out of faces. Can you stop now?
      • 55-59 = ...I'm not sure what I expected.
      • 60-64 = Whatever. You have fun. I'm going to bed.
      • 65-84 = Zzz....
      • 85-99 = ...
      • 100-159 = .....
      • 160 = Press me more! :3
      • 161-399 = .....
      • 400-404 = Thanks for the extra playtime!
      • 405-699 = .....
      • 700 = Sorry, there's nothing past this.
      • 701-899 = .....
      • 900 = I lied.
      • 901-999 = .....
      • 1000-1099 = You pressed me 1,000 times. Congrats.
      • 1100+ = ☻
    • There is nothing beyond this point, as the game will simply state "the timer ran out," closing the Pre-Run Shop's GUI.

Bugs Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • If the NVCS-3000 is unequipped fast enough after equipping, a player can still hear the buzzing sound even if it's not equipped.
  • If a player uses NVCS-3000 in the Rooms, the screen can sometimes go pitch black when turned on.
    • It can also show the night vision mechanism when it's turned off.
  • At some point before it got replaced with Starlight Jug, taking an NVCS-3000 out of a Rift prevented it from properly functioning (it would function as intended if a player took it from the Rift, died, revived, and retrieved it due to it having data from the last round).
