The Origins of the Hotel[edit | edit source]

So basically, the Hotel looks like it was built in the 1940s, with decoration of that sort. There are many ruined rooms, so it was likely abandoned. Hotels during WWII were being used as hospitals, so of course there is The Infirmary. The person that made the hotel, henceforth referred to as "The Manager," likely abandoned the hotel after World War 2 ended. I theorize that the Manager came back to see his old Hotel, but did not know about any of the entities. He died to an entity, and this is where things get strange.

Guiding Light(s)[edit | edit source]

This is my definition of a Guiding Light: A "living" light that exists inside a liminal space, capable of interacting with objects without a physical form, and sending messages to people upon their death inside their space.

Back to the story. When the Manager died, a message was sent by a Guiding Light, known as Elder Light. It was a very weak Guiding Light, and did not have much power left. When a Guiding Light has no power left, it dies. The Elder Light used its last amount of power to send a message to the Manager. It explained the basics of the Hotel, and sensed that the Manager could have great power as a Guiding Light.

The Powerful Light[edit | edit source]

The Manager was then reincarnated as a Guiding Light, known as the Powerful Light. As their name suggests, the Powerful Light had much power. It could slam doors to block even the strongest of entities, power the Crucifix, a tool of its own invention, and even revive people that die as people, although that uses up a lot of power, which the Powerful Light has to recharge by resting. This is why you can only revive once.

The Curious Light[edit | edit source]

Back when the Hotel was still running, an employee by the name of Bob entered the office. He found, however, that he could not leave. He went to his cubicle, with his nametag saying "bob" and his purple keycard, and realized nobody else was here. He was very curious about it. He went to the room he came through, and decided to sit down and chill. He found that he never got hungry nor thirsty, and after a month of sitting on a couch doing nothing, Bob got curious. He decided to adventure through the rooms, which were marked A-001, A-002, so on. He wanted to see when Section-B starts. A-100? A-200? It's not like it matters, he's trapped here anyway! What does he have to lose? So he walks.

And walks.

And walks...

And eventually he reaches A-100. I bet Section-B has to be behind here! It wasn't.

What was there was a strange buzzing and rumble. He thought it came from behind him. Probably just hearing things... There was a lot of red light... And he died.

He was greeted by a message from a Guiding Light, by the name of Small Light. It was also old, just like Elder Light, and explained some of the basics of this office-y place to Bob. Bob reincarnated, just like the Manager, as a Guiding Light. He was called Curious Light, because of how his curiosity lead to his demise. He watched how the entities worked, but didn't fully understand. Small Light didn't either, when the message was sent. Curious Light wanted to help people that get trapped here, though. So, they created a flashlight that never runs out of battery! Problem is, they didn't have a lot of experience making objects. They ended up making a flashlight that recharges when you shake it.
