Modifiers are a post-game feature added on the 26th of August, 2023 as its own standalone update for the game's first year celebration.
Overview
Modifiers are unlockable small, varied changes that can change a run drastically, especially when paired up with other Modifiers. All Modifiers are unlocked once you complete the game ('Rock Bottom' Badge). Most Modifiers make the game harder, although a select few make it easier.
Modifiers List of modifiers
Random Modifiers
- Uh Oh: Randomly adds 1 Modifier to your run. (+10% Knobs)
- How Unfortunate: Randomly adds 3 Modifiers to your run. (+30% Knobs)
- Chaos, Chaos: Randomly adds 5 Modifiers to your run. (+50% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Lights
- Lights On: The amount of dark rooms in your run will decrease. (-25% Knobs)
- Electrical Work: The lights will never flicker or break, also preventing warnings for Rush, Ambush and Halt. (+10% Knobs)
- Bad Electrical Work: The amount of dark rooms in your run will increase, the lights will also flicker and can break more often. (+10% Knobs)
- Power Shortage: Bad Electrical Work but more rooms will be dark, and other entities are able to attack in dark rooms. (+15% Knobs)
- Lights Out: All rooms are dark rooms. (+25% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Gold
- El Goblino On Break: You will find more gold in your run. (-50% Knobs)
- El Goblino Was Here: You will find less gold in your run. (+5% Knobs)
- El Goblino's Payday: You will not find gold in your run. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Items
- More Stuff: You will find more items in your run. (-50% Knobs AND disables The Rift)
- Less Stuff: You will find less items in your run. (+5% Knobs)
- Out Of Stuff: All items except room keys, the electrical key, books and notes cannot be found. (+15% Knobs but disables The Rift)
- Wear And Tear: Items that wear over time / have limited uses will have significantly less durability and/or uses. (+5% Knobs)
Guiding Light
- Gone Fishing: Most of Guiding Light's glowing hints are disabled. (+5% Knobs)
- Soundproofing: Keys, books and other similar pickups no longer emit a shimmering noise. (+5% Knobs)
Hotel Rooms
- Wet Floor: The floor is slippery. (+10% Knobs)
- Bad Ventilation: Adds fog, significantly limiting vision. (+10% Knobs)
- Locked And Loaded: Increases chance of locked rooms during your run. This modifier also has a chance to put a lock on normal rooms. (+10% Knobs)
- Key Key Key Key: Almost all rooms are locked rooms. (+15% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Hiding Spots
- A Few Places To Hide: The amount of hiding spots are reduced so that not everyone in your run may be able to hide from Rush or Ambush. (+5% Knobs)
- Nowhere To Hide: Hiding spots are not guaranteed for anyone during entity encounters. (+15% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Audio
- Jammin': Constantly plays music and muffles all other sound effects. (+15% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Health
- Tripped: You start the run at 50% HP. But you can heal it back. (+5% Knobs)
- Tripped And Fell: Same as Tripped but you start at 10% HP instead. (+10% Knobs)
- Last Few Breaths: Your MAX health is locked at 50%. (+10% Knobs)
- Last Breath: All non-fatal damage will kill you instantly. (+20% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
Movement Speed
- Didn't Skip Leg Day: Your movement speed is increased. (-50% Knobs)
- Faster, Faster, Faster: Your movement speed is greatly increased. (-75% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
- MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE: Movement speed is incredibly fast. (-125% Knobs) (Requires 'Hotel Hell')
- My Knees Are Killing Me: Your crouch speed is significantly slower. (+5% Knobs)
- My Legs Are Killing Me: Your movement speed is significantly slower. (+10% Knobs)
- Injuries: As you lose health, your movement speed decreases. (+5% Knobs)
Entity Spawning
- Good Time: Most entities will attack less often. (-50% Knobs)
- Bad Time: Most entities will attack more often. (+10% Knobs)
- Really Bad Time: Most entities will attack far more often (+15% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
- Worst Time Ever: Entities will unfairly attack constantly (+25% Knobs) (Requires 'Hotel Hell')
Rush
- Rush Hour: Rush will attack more often. (+5% Knobs)
- I'm Runnin' Here: Rush will move quicker. (+5% Knobs)
- I'm Tip-Toein' Here: Rush will emit no sound. (+5% Knobs) (Requires 'Stay Out Of My Way')
Dupe
- Wrong Number: Dupe will spawn more and increase in difficulty by also scratching the key for Locked Rooms. (+5% Knobs)
- Battle Of Wits: Dupe will always spawn when possible and is at maximum difficulty. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'Outwitted')
Screech
- I'm Everywhere: Screech can attack in any room, INCLUDING Seek Chases. (+5% Knobs)
- Think Fast: Screech will attack more and give you less time to react. (+5% Knobs)
- Think Faster: Screech will attack far more and give you much less time to react. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'I Hate You')
Timothy
- Bug Spray: Timothy is nowhere to be found :( (-10% Knobs)
- Itchy: Timothy will attack more often, and his bite can be fatal. (+5% Knobs.)
Eyes
- Nosey: Eyes will spawn more. (+5% Knobs.)
- Always Watching: Eyes spawns in all rooms. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'You Can't See Me')
- Seeing Double: Two sets of eyes spawn in all rooms. +15% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
- Four Eyes: Four sets of Eyes will always spawn (+20% Knobs) (Requires 'Hotel Hell')
Figure
- Come Back Here: Figure is faster than usual. (+5% Knobs) (Requires 'All Figured Out')
Seek
- You Really Can Run: Seek's chase starts early and is extended. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'Take A Breather')
Ambush
- Back For Seconds: Ambush will attack more. (+10% Knobs)
- Again & Again & Again: Ambush will endlessly attack. (+25% Knobs) (Requires 'Hotel Hell')
Hide
- Rent's Due: Hide will attack as fast as possible. (+10% Knobs)
Halt
- Roundabout: Halt is guaranteed to spawn and is far more difficult. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'Two Steps Ahead')
Snare
- Watch Your Step: Snare isn't limited to just the greenhouse, and it can occasionally spawn throughout the floor. (+5% Knobs)
- Are those pancakes?!: Snare spawns in multiples throughout the floor. (+10% Knobs) (Requires 'Not Five Stars')
- I love pancakes!!!: There are too many Snares, Its attack can now be fatal. (+15% Knobs) (Requires 'Hotel Hell')
The Rooms
- Stop Right There: A-90 can spawn in the Hotel. (+15% Knobs) (Requires 'Back on Track')
- Room For More: All of the Rooms entities can spawn in the Hotel. (+20% Knobs) (Requires 'Back on Track')
Miscellaneous
- SUPER HARD MODE!!!: Replicates the April Fools 2023 mode. Cannot be used with other modifiers. (+0% Knobs. No Progress AND disables The Rift) (In Public Servers, requires 'Survival The Jeff The Killer', Free without the badge in VIP Servers)
Trivia
- Many of the modifier names are references:
- "Uh Oh" and "How Unfortunate" could be a reference to Dee Dee's voice lines from FNaF Ultimate Custom Night.
- "Lights On" could be a reference to the Daycare Attendant in FNAF Security Breach where he asks the player to "Keep the lights on"
- "Chaos, Chaos" is a reference to Jevil's voice lines from Deltarune Chapter 1.
- "Bad Time" is a reference to one of Sans's lines from Undertale, where he says if the player doesn't stop killing, they're "gonna have a bad time."
- "Last Breath" could be a reference to an Undertale fan-game Undertale: Last Breath.
- "MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE" is a reference to Spongebob Squarepants, where Plankton threatens Mr. Krabs with it, causing his vehicle to speed up.
- "A Battle Of Wits" could also be a reference to Spongebob Squarepants.
- "Are those pancakes?!" and "I love pancakes!!!"could be a reference to Oneshot, where the main character Niko's favorite food is pancakes.
- "Seeing Double" is a reference to Diplopia, a medical condition where one sees a double of an object whilst looking at it, hence "seeing double."
- "Four Eyes" is a derogatory term for someone who wears glasses.
- Other modifiers are named after achievements:
- "I'm Runnin' Here" and "I'm Tip-Toein' Here" are references to Out Of My Way's (the Achievement name for surviving Rush) description "I'm walkin' here!"
- "Back For Seconds" is a reference to Rebound's (the achievement for surviving Ambush) description "Coming back for seconds!"
- "Rent's Due" is a reference to Hide's achievement titled "Eviction Notice"
