It appears in [[The Courtyard]] and [[The Greenhouse]] from The Hotel and is planned to be added to [[The Outdoors]]. It serves as an obstacle during these doors and a trap that will stop [[Player|players]] from [[hiding]] from hostile entities.

''Snare'' is a greenish-brown grassy entity with holes hiding retractable spike-like growths. While dormant, it looks akin to a circular dirt patch on the ground. When stepped on by a player, it releases its large white spikes to impale them.

Inside each room in [[The Greenhouse]], 1-3 ''Snares'' will spawn. If a player steps on it, ''Snare'' will release its spikes into their foot, immobilizing them for a few seconds, dealing 20 [[damage]] to them. This prevents players from moving or using [[items]]. ''Snare'' can also spawn in [[The Courtyard]], as of [[The Mines]] update, at the entrance or inside of the basement, which can catch the players off guard.

===Notes===
*It is strongly recommended to have a light source during [[The Greenhouse]] section, as there will be no reliable light sources, making it somewhat difficult to detect ''Snare''. 
**In [[The Mines Update]], it is now easier to avoid the entity, as the Greenhouse is now slightly brighter.
*It is recommended that players check the ground ahead of them as they traverse The Greenhouse.
*Lightning can strike, illuminating the room slightly for a few moments, which can be useful for locating ''Snare'', as well as for finding [[Hiding|closets]].
*[[Eyes]] may also act as a light source to locate ''Snare''s. It can be useful if a player doesn't have any light sources or is preserving fuel for the next room.
*Since [[Guiding Light]] appears in dark rooms after a few minutes, it can also be used to locate ''Snare''.
*It is common for multiple ''Snare''s to appear in a room.
*If one is unable to get to a hiding spot due to ''Snare''<nowiki/>'s trap, they can use the [[crucifix]] as a last option against [[Rush]].
*Items can not be equipped while being trapped by ''Snare''.  
** If a player has an item equipped, it's automatically unequipped. This could be lethal if Rush comes near a player or if [[Screech]] spawns when they are trapped.
**Items are not automatically equipped after being released by ''Snare''.
**''Snare'' was removed in [[The Mines]] because they can spawn in crawlspaces, up to 3 on top of one another, causing the player to be soft-locked. But it is coming back in a future update (Most likely using [[modifiers]], though it currently does not work).

===Modifiers=== 
*If any of ''Snare'''s modifiers are enabled, such as 'Watch Your Step', ''Snare'' can freely spawn in the Hotel, and is no longer exclusive to the Greenhouse.
** Its modifier extension "Are Those Pancakes?!" can have up to 3-4 ''Snares'' to spawn in rooms.
***Its other modifier extension, "I Love Pancakes!!!" can cause up to 6-8 ''Snares'' to spawn in a room. Also, ''Snare''<nowiki/>'s damage can now be fatal.
** After [[The Hunt Update]], there can be two ''Snares'' with "Watch Your Step" modifier. It can also spawn in [[The Library]].

* If a player steps on ''Snare'' at the same time Rush kills them, the [[Death Screen|death screen]] will appear normal but Rush's audio will continue to play in the background. 
**[[Guiding Light]] will also say [[Rush]]'s death message, but the death screen will say the player died to ''Snare''.
** This is similar to a bug where players are able to die to [[Timothy]].
** This can also happen with ''Snare''.
* Prior to the Floor 2 update, If a player used any of ''Snare'''s modifiers, (i.e. "Watch Your Step,"  "Are Those Pancakes?!", or "I Love Pancakes!!!") ''Snare'' could spawn on the roof, and players will only be able to see Snare's spikes from below. This is fixed because of Snare's new design.
*Prior to the Floor 2 Update, there was a bug where if players were standing in the middle of a ''Snare'', Rush, [[Ambush]], A-60, and A-120 couldn't kill the players. 
** This happens because the player's hitbox was covered by ''Snare'''s invisible hitbo<nowiki/>x.
**To do this consistently players first had to step on the ''Snare.'' After the animation finishes, the player needed to stay on the middle of it in order to not be killed. 
***It was possible to do the bug without stepping on it at first, but it was really inconsistent.
*Using any of ''Snare''<nowiki/>'s modifiers, it's possible for some ''Snares'' to be bugged; they can't be triggered, and if players step on them, nothing will happen.
** This happens because these ''Snares'' are technically from the next room, but they were positioned incorrectly and spawned in the previous room. ''Snare'' is likely coded to only be triggered by players that are in the room to which ''Snare'' corresponds, which is why it can't be triggered.
* When modifiers were added to The Mines, ''Snare'''s modifiers were available, but did<nowiki/> not spawn ''Snare'' at all.
** This is no longer the case, as ''Snare''<nowiki/>'s modifiers are no longer available in The M<nowiki/>ines.
*For unknown reasons, after [[The Content Update]], Snare no longer releases its spikes. It is unknown if this is a bug or not.
