Found only in [[The Library]], ''Library Books'' are books that contain a shape and number inside of them. The same shapes also appear on the [[Solution Paper]]. Understanding a combination of numbers and symbols from the ''Library Books'' and interpreting their order with the Solution Paper will allow players to solve the [[Hotel#Library Puzzle|Library Puzzle]]. 

''Library Books'' are usually found surrounded by other, unreadable books in The Library. ''Library Books'' will emit a faint "shiny" sound and are highlighted by [[Guiding Light]]. Compared to the other books, the colors ''Library Books'' are found in (blue, purple, green, tan, and red) are more vibrant, and they are usually situated at a slight angle. These factors make them easier to find.

=={{Icons|Usage}} Usage==
Pressing "E" {{Key|E}} (on PC), or "X" {{Xbox|X|size=24px}} (on Xbox), or the [[Controls|interact button]] (on mobile) will make players pull a ''Library Book'' off a shelf and read the contents. Once they are finished reading, the ''Library Book'' will be discarded from player's inventory, and the contained [[Hotel#Library Puzzle|Library Puzzle]] hint will be shown on the left of the screen.

===Notes===

* ''Library Books'' emit a faint "shining" sound, similar to the sound [[Room Key|room keys]] make. So as long as players have their volume turned up, this sound makes it far easier to identify any books near them.
* Eight ''Library Books'' can be found in The Library. However, only five digits are required to unlock the door. To complete the code without guessing, all eight ''Library Books'' must be found, as the last ''Library Book'' always contains the last digit.
**In Super Hard Mode, 15 ''Library Books'' must be found, as the code is twice as long.
*Reading, picking up or opening a ''Library Book'' does not make noise, and will not attract [[Figure]].
*Each ''Library Book'' players collect will make Figure run around for longer if noise is made. Its speed will not increase, though.
* The ''Library Book'''<nowiki/>''s'' symbols and numbers are always randomized.
*After players hav<nowiki/>e been in The Library for roughly three minutes, [[Guiding Light]] will intensify the light and particles around the books, which makes them easier to find.
*Collected books w<nowiki/>ill show a portrait of a player who collected them next to its symbol in multiplayer. A player portrait is not present on the screen of players who collected it.
*Unequipping a ''Lib''<nowiki/>''rary Book'' while the "reading" animation is still active will still add its digit to the left side of the screen. Similarly, players can collect multiple ''Library Books'' at once, and all digits will be recorded.
*The books appear <nowiki/>slanted giving an easier view to find them.
