The '''Library Books''' are items only lootable inside of [[The Library|Room 50]]. They are crucial items to unlocking the [[Hotel#Library Puzzle|Library Puzzle]].

== {{Icons|Overview}} Overview ==
All library books are seen throughout the game but a brighter color than the non-interactable books and are also crooked, making it easier to find them when entering [[The Library|Room 50]]. Each library book contains a shape and a part of the password to the lock on the exit to the room, being on the left and right pages respectively. Once the player has finished reading the book, the book will be removed from their inventory with the book's contents being added to the bottom left of the screen.

== {{Icons|Usage}} Usage ==
To interact with the '''library book''', the player has to press {{Key|E}} on it to read its contents. After the initial animation, the item will be discarded from the player's inventory. On mobile, simply equipping the book will open it and allow you to read its contents.

* If a book has been found by another player, the avatar portrait of said player, will be shown on the right of the passcode they've found. Solo Players do not have this avatar portrait because they are playing by themselves.
* ''Library books'' emit a faint glowing sound, similar to the sound [[Room Key|room keys]] make. This can make it easier to know for a player if there is a book on an isle simply by having their volume up.
* A player can 'read' multiple books at once.
** Read books will be discarded soon after, and recorded on the left side of the screen. Don't be afraid to pick up multiple of them.
* There are a total of 8 library books to be found in the library, but only 5 are needed to solve the puzzle, which means that the other 3 are useless.
** It is impossible to get all 5 correct books without collecting the rest of the incorrect ones, because the eighth and final book you read will always be the right one.
*** Although, you can only collect 7 books and try to guess the missing number through trial-and-error. Note that inserting an incorrect code will reset all the numbers to 0 (but does not alert the Figure in any way).
* Reading a book does not make noise, and therefore will '''<u>not</u>''' attract [[Figure]]. 
* For each book read, the Figure walks (and runs) faster. 
* There are currently 5 different colored books in the game: Blue, Purple, Green, Tan, and Red. 
** The tan colored ones blend well with the fake books, better than the other 4. Make sure to inspect each bookshelf carefully for those.
** When switching to another item while picking up a book, it will stay in the inventory until switching to it again.
* The only time the player can interact with the library books is in [[The Library|Room 50]].
* Books and the code for the Lock are always randomized, there will be no same code every run. Memorizing all the combinations from your previous runs will not help in any way.
* The books with the code are tilted down. Keep your eyes out and about.
