'''Climbing''' is one of the [[Game Mechanics|mechanics]] in [[The Mines]]. Climbing was added during The Mines update.  It allows you to climb through [[Ladders]] by pressing {{Key|E}} (PC), pressing [[File:Xbox Button X.png|23px|link=]] (Xbox) and the climb button [[File:Icons ladder.png|23px|link=]] on mobile devices.

* The player's camera sways back and forth and the player's arms will slide down/up the [[Ladders|Ladder]] before going off the ladder and going back up/down and repeating.
** The player's arms are in opposite intervals.
** The arm that player looks towards is the one that goes off the ladder down/up then back on.

* The player's arms and legs slide up or down the ladder then slide down or up again.
** The player visibly moves up or down the ladder.
** The player's arms are in opposite intervals.
* The player seemingly teleports off the ladder and onto the ledge at the top.

* If a player is teleported while climbing, the next time they stop climbing a ladder, they will be teleported into the exit of the ladder first mentioned if it still hasn't despawned.
** This is mostly known as it commonly happens if the button of [[The Nest]] is finally pressed while a player is climbing a ladder. They will be teleported back into the ladder in The Nest when they leave the ladder at Door 151, being stuck until they are teleported by [[Void]].

* Like [[Hiding]], any [[Screech]] on the player will despawn with a fading-out animation when the player attempts to climb something.
** [[Glitch Fragment|SCJVEREECH]] will not despawn and can still damage and kill the player when climbing.
* Despite the fact that there are ladders in the Hotel (Like in the [[The Library]]) you cannot climb them.
* [[Dread]] can spawn while you are on a ladder, as a substitute of [[Screech]] to discourage AFK.
* While climbing, the player can move their camera up and down all the way but it is locked form turning past 180°.
** This is the same camera lock system as when [[Hiding]].
*Before [[The Mines]] nerf, climbing used to be slower.
* [[Eyes]] (and [[The Backdoor#Entities|Lookman]]) can't damage the player if they are climbing.
