Currency relates to two in-game units of money which are each applicable at different Shops.

Gold - Gold is found within cupboards and drawers throughout rooms, currently it is used to purchase items at Jeff's Shop and to convert to Knobs at the end of a round.
Knobs - The main currency of the game, used to purchase in-game items at the start of a floor.
