|title=The Grotto
}}The Grotto, previously also known as Halt's Cave, is a special location in The Mines. It is where Halt's encounter used to take place.

*
Overview Overview
*
Halt's room of residence in The Mines is a lot trickier than the encounter in The Dining Hall. Unlike the Dining Hall, the path is curved, and it also has a section where the player is required to push a minecart into boards in order to break them.
*

*
The Grotto starts with a tunnel that players have to crawl through. After this, the players move around a collapsed section of rock, with item lockers lining the left side. The player then travels through a small body of water, and comes across a section where they are required to push a minecart to break a wooden barrier. The Grotto then ends with a snaking path leading to the exit door.
*

*
This room is still present in the game, but is now a regular room.
*

*
Notes
*

*
*To avoid other players pushing the minecart into you, you can hug the wall to the left of the track.
*
**Make sure to move in order to avoid the wooden beams.

Trivia Trivia
*This room is most likely to spawn before The Caverns.
**This is partially because it can only spawn when opening a wooden door. Many of these doors are replaced with metal sewer doors after The Nest.
* Only one player needs to push the minecart for the wooden barrier to be broken for everyone.
* It is possible to not encounter The Grotto at all in a run, albeit incredibly rare.
*Players can be unlucky if they get a room containing Figure right after this room, due to them entering most likely while standing up, immediately triggering the entity and not being able to retract back into the previous room.
